Expert Advice: Can You Let Out Your Owned Lodge?

Owning a holiday lodge is a dream come true, offering a special retreat for you, your family, and friends to enjoy for years to come. Along with unforgettable getaways for you, your lodge offers great benefits—flexibility, a home-from-home experience, and the opportunity to offset costs when you’re not using it. Letting out your holiday lodge can be a fantastic way to offset costs and share your lovely lodge with our holidaymakers. But is it as simple as handing over the keys? Let’s take a look at what you need to know.

The Rise in Park Lodge Ownership

More and more people are discovering the joys of owning a holiday lodge in the UK. With staycations more popular than ever, a home-from-home in your favourite part of the UK offers a slice of the good life—whenever you fancy. Whether it’s for weekend escapes, extended holidays, or even a spot of semi-retirement, having your own lodge is a lifestyle choice that brings freedom and flexibility.

Can You Let Your Lodge?

The short answer? Yes, but there are a few key things to consider. Every holiday park has its own rules on subletting, so it’s always best to check with your park operator first. At Lovat Parks, our Love To Let scheme makes renting out your lodge simple and stress-free when you’re not using it. This way, you stay in control while enjoying the benefits of offsetting your costs. Over at Azure Seas, owners can rent out their holiday homes through third-party agencies. However, due to licensing rules, any letting at any of our other parks must go through the Love To Let scheme.

Why Rent Your Lodge?

If your holiday park of choice allows, there are plenty of reasons why letting out your lodge could be a great option for you.

Offset Running Costs

Holiday home ownership comes with some ongoing costs, from site fees to ongoing running costs such as the cost of gas, electric and water. Letting out your home from home for part of the year can help cover these costs, making your holiday home upkeep costs more affordable.

Share Your Love for the Area

Your holiday spot is truly special—peaceful surroundings, breathtaking scenery, and a welcoming atmosphere from the park teams and local community. By letting out your lodge, you allow others to experience its magic, creating cherished memories while enjoying the same relaxation and adventure that you get to enjoy whenever you like as an owner.

Extend Beyond Friends and Family

While sharing your lodge with loved ones is always special, letting it out as a holiday home allows guests to enjoy it when you or your family aren’t able to. This helps keep your lodge in use throughout the season, bringing joy to others and making the most of your space.

Security & Safety

We take pride in the safety measures across our parks, including CCTV and night wardens during peak season, to protect our guests and owners. As a Love To Let owner, you also benefit from regular cleaning between guests, ensuring extra care and attention for your home from home.

What to Know Before Letting Out Your Lodge

Before you welcome guests, here are a few key things to consider:

Check With Your Park

Before you get started, check with your park operator to ensure renting out your lodge is permitted. Some parks have specific guidelines on who can rent, how often, and any restrictions—such as not allowing same-sex groups, guests under 21, or pets.

Decide What You’ll Leave Inside

Your lodge is your second home, and with our optional dress pack, you can make it feel welcoming from day one. Plus, our parks include essential amenities like Wi-Fi for yours and your guests’ convenience.

Check Your Insurance

As a holiday home owner, you’ll need separate insurance to cover your lodge against fire, flood, severe weather, theft, and damage. Our park insurance covers general maintenance, landscaping, security, and facilities, but not individual lodges.
