Our Award Winning Approach To Sustainability And Waste Reduction 3m Lovat Lovat Parks 06/12/24 It’s been an award winning year at Lovat Parks This year, we at Lovat Parks are beyond proud to have received four sustainability awards, recognising the strides we’ve made in reducing waste, protecting the environment, and championing responsible tourism. These awards are a testament to the dedication of our incredible team, whose daily choices create a lasting positive impact. From canine care stands to toiletries recycling schemes, even our smallest innovations are making a big difference. In particular, our waste reduction project has received commendation for its impressive results. Here’s how we’ve made a difference: How we’re reducing waste Since our baseline year in 2022, we have: Reduced waste to landfill by 45.5% Increased our recycling rate by 49% Boosted organic composting by 227% Each of our parks actively monitors and manages waste, working towards our goal of reducing landfill contributions by 10% year on year. Tailored waste management strategies We understand that no two parks are the same. That’s why we customise waste reduction interventions to suit each of our fabulous park locations. Here are some of the steps we’ve taken: Improved bin store layouts and added more bin stations Clear, informative signage on what can and cannot be recycled Enhanced education around food waste disposal Regular communication with guests and owners about local recycling practices We also recognise that our local recycling rules may differ from what guests are familiar with at home, so we make it a priority to communicate these guidelines clearly for a seamless stay. Sustainability in action Monthly performance reviews allow us to track progress and adapt as needed. Additionally, our annual Positive Impact Report and internal waste and carbon performance overview help us collaborate with each park to plan for the future. In 2025, we aim to inspire even more guests by sharing fascinating facts through our welcome materials. For instance: In 2024, each guest staying at one of our parks sent just 2.2kg to landfill—the weight of a small beach cooler. In 2023, we collectively reduced waste to landfill by the equivalent of a blue whale’s weight!
