Holiday mode activated: discover the low maintenance of holiday lodge ownership

When it comes to holiday home ownership in Britain’s beloved beauty spots, buying a lodge offers a significantly lower level of maintenance compared to traditional bricks and mortar. In this article, we get into why owning a lodge with us offers you a hassle free holiday home ownership experience that prioritises reconnecting with nature above all else.

Ready to move in

At each of our parks in Cornwall, Norfolk, Suffolk and the New Forest, we offer a special selection of lodges and static caravans for sale, though we like to call the latter holiday homes. Unlike traditional homes, each of our lodges come fully furnished. This means from day one, you can prioritise finding your ideal spot on the sofa instead of embarking on the expense of furniture shopping. We take great care in ensuring that your lodge is not only beautifully designed and constructed, but also furnished and equipped with all the essentials.

We handpick our interior finishes with durability in mind, to ensure they’re more resistant to wear and tear, and reduce the need for frequent repairs or replacements.

If you appreciate the little details, you’ll also have the option to purchase a luxury dress park to elevate the ambiance of your holiday lodge, creating a true home away from home. Whether it’s matching mugs or ornate decorations, we offer all the homely touches that create a cosy atmosphere to come home to on your holidays.

Designed with minimal upkeep in mind

Unlike traditional houses, both our lodges and holiday homes are designed with modern materials that prioritise simplicity and minimal upkeep on your part. The exterior cladding, roofing, and other components of our holiday lodges are specifically chosen to withstand the elements and reduce the need for regular maintenance. Instead, you can lock up and leave your lodge in the capable hands of our park teams, who work tirelessly year-round to keep the park you love immaculate, safe and secure, while remaining on hand to tend to your lodge if necessary. We’ve got park maintenance teams, gardeners and reception teams to relieve you of the administrative burdens that can come with conventional home ownership.

Our lodges are designed to maximise space efficiency while still providing a comfortable living environment. With fewer rooms and less square footage than bricks and mortar, there are fewer areas that require regular cleaning, repairs, or ongoing upkeep in comparison.

No more weekend projects: Embracing the maintenance free lifestyle that comes with owning a holiday lodge

We understand when you go on holiday, the last thing you want to is DIY. After all, this time together is for downing tools rather than picking them up. By choosing Lovat Parks, you are not just buying a lodge; you are becoming part of a community that values your time and understands your desire for a hassle-free getaway.

With your lodge ready to move into on your arrival, you’ll have more time to unwind in the tranquillity of nature with those you hold dear. Whether you prefer relaxing walks in the walks or heading to the beach for an ice cream, you can be sure that your lodge at Lovat Parks will provide a welcoming base for your adventures for years to come.

“It’s a wonderful park. It’s just home from home. When we get here, we’re relaxed straight away. There’s no gardening to do or any work to do. We literally come in, within 10 minutes we’re unpacked and we feel we’re on holiday.”

Upfront costs and considerations clearly laid out

While ownership with Lovat Parks offers light work for you, we understand that making the initial decision to buy is not one to be taken lightly. We’re proud that our lodges are typically much cheaper than a bricks and mortar home. You can’t get a mortgage on them, but we work with Santander to bring you trusted finance options that can help spread the cost. You also don’t have to pay stamp duty when you buy a lodge with us, just an annual site fee. To make buying as simple as possible, we offer a variety of collateral to help ease your decision making process including an ownership brochure. When you enquire, you’ll also get a sales contact on park ready to answer any questions.

We like to take care of our owners and ensure there are no hidden costs so it remains plain Cornish surfing or Norfolk Broads boating the whole way. To ensure minimal effort tracking down key information, we’ve outlined some things to think about below.

Our site fees are reviewed annually and communicated to owners in November for the following season. Additionally, there are some ongoing costs to consider, such as non-domestic rates and water charges, which are billed annually in March unless your chosen property has a water meter. This applies only to a few of our Padstow holiday homes and lodges, so it’s advisable to confirm with your Lovat contact if it applies to your preferred park. As for gas and electric, usage is metered and billed quarterly. Most of our Cornish parks receive gas through bulk tanks, and we’ll require an annual copy of the current certificate. At Golden Beach, electricity is metered and billed quarterly, while gas is provided in bottles, and we’ll supply you with four bottles initially. It’s important to ensure that your holiday home is always adequately insured, and we’ll need an annual copy of the current insurance certificate.

Our peace of mind holiday home warranty

We’re here to help alleviate stress by offering a complimentary 12-month warranty when you buy a lodge with us.*. This is just another maintenance measure you get when you buy a Lovat Parks lodge with us versus bricks and mortar. If any work needed does come along within the first year of owning your lodge, the free one-year warranty can help cover any necessary work and reduce stress. After that, you’ll have the option to get any suppliers in you wish or, of course, you’re more than welcome to chat to our park teams who will be able to make local recommendations.
