Mawgan Porth — minutes away, but worlds away.

Cross the little stream at the bottom of the park, then stroll on for 15 minutes through woodland and you’re in Mawgan Porth, whose Blue Flag beach is a true Cornish gem.

Dog friendly all year round, you can hone your surf skills, sculpt a sand castle or just wind away time.

Mawgan Porth makes up for its small size with a number of excellent pubs and eateries. We’d recommend the Merrymoor Inn for a traditional Cornish ale, or perhaps a seafood bite to eat at The Kitchen By The Beach.

Not only that, but you’re perfectly placed at our caravan and holiday park — Watergate Bay, Padstow and even the hustle and bustle of Newquay are only a short drive away.

A pooch’s paradise.

With more woodland and coastal walks than you can shake a chasing stick at, North Cornwall is fun for those on four legs as well as two — which is why Sun Haven is a completely dog-friendly caravan and holiday park.

Crantock Beach, Gannel Estuary, Fistral Beach and Town Beach are all pet-friendly beaches right on our doorstep. That’s not to mention all the pup-friendly pubs in the vicinity.

To combine relaxation with breathtaking beauty, we’d recommend the Mawgan Porth to St. Mawgan route! Or head up to any number of world-class surfing destinations near Newquay; Fistral Beach is dog-friendly year round.

After all the adventuring is done, take advantage of our on-site doggy showers and the K9 Campers Treat Bar, too. For a refreshment, the dog-friendly Merrymoor Inn is really close to our park and has great views of the River Menalhyl.

We’re delighted to welcome two canine companions per reservation. However, if you’re planning to bring more, get in touch with our team — it shouldn’t be a problem!

Let’s start planning your holiday to Newquay & Mawgan Porth today.

Thinking of a low-key day, relaxing in the local area? Or in search of a fun-fuelled, family day out? Here’s just a few of our favourites in the local area and slightly further afield…

  • The Japanese Garden — just up the road from our park is St. Mawgan’s The Japanese Garden, a lovely little space inspired by the East, containing Water Gardens, a Stroll garden and a Zen Garden. A real local hidden gem, we’d say.

  • Newquay — whether you’re surfing white waves, exploring the Blue Reef Aquarium or dining at any number of excellent eateries, you’re only a short five mile journey away from the hustle and bustle of one of the nation’s favourite seaside destinations.

  • Kingsurf — when in Rome! North Cornwall is home to a host of world-famous beaches adored by surfers. Whether you’re a complete novice or a long-toothed wave-rider, Kingsurf provides professional and safe surfing lessons. Slightly further afield, there’s Siblyback Lake, perfect for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing.

  • Padstow harbour — when a quintessential Cornish harbour town is a mere 15 minute drive from Sun Haven, it would be rude not to pay a visit. Eateries, pubs, speed boat rides, cruises, fishing trips — it’s all there.

  • Eden Project — a jewel in Cornwall’s tourism crown, it scarcely needs an introduction. Less than 30 minutes’ drive from Sun Haven, the whole family can discover thousands of plant species at its outdoor and indoor gardens.

  • Camel Creek Adventure Park — only 10 minutes’ drive from our park, you’ll find a theme park and a zoo — hours of guaranteed fun for young and old alike.

  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan — cross from Sun Haven to the south coast of Cornwall and you have yourself an inspiring 19th-century family day out, with gardens, flowers and tea rooms to discover.

  • Tarquin’s Cornish Gin — a short taxi journey away is this fabulous little distillery. Dive straight in with a tour and sample the magic of its small-batch, craft gins.
