A 7 Day Itinerary for Exploring West Cornwall

West Cornwall is a stunning region filled with rugged coastline, picturesque fishing villages, and some of the UK’s most iconic landmarks. As a gateway to both coast and countryside—including Hayle, St Ives, Land’s End, Falmouth, and Penzance—it’s an ideal destination for adventure seekers, history buffs, and food lovers alike. Whether you’re exploring golden beaches, discovering rich maritime heritage, or indulging in world-famous Cornish pasties, our 7 day itinerary ensures you make the most of your visit while staying at Parbola Holiday Park

Day 1: Discovering Falmouth

If you want to kick off your holiday with a day trip, start your adventure in Falmouth — a picturesque seaside town rich in maritime history just a 40 minute drive from our park. Enjoy breakfast at SLICE before heading to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, where you can explore interactive exhibits and delve into the world of sailing. A visit to English Heritage’s Pendennis Castle offers stunning views and an immersive journey into Cornwall’s rich history, showcasing one of Henry VIII’s most impressive seaside fortresses. End the day with dinner at family run Gylly Beach Café, where you can dine with a stunning ocean view.

Day 2: Exploring Penzance & St Michael’s Mount

Take a morning trip to Marazion, where you can walk across the tidal causeway to the fairytale-like St Michael’s Mount. Discover its gardens, historic castle, and incredible coastal views. While you’re in Marazion, be sure to grab a famous Cornish pasty from Philps Traditional Cornish Pasties.

After returning to the mainland, head to Jubilee Pool in Penzance for a relaxing dip in its heated saltwater. Wrap up the day with a candlelit feast at the medieval-themed Newlyn Meadery, offering a unique dining experience, or head back to park to whip up your own holiday feast in your accommodation.

Day 3: Portreath & Tolgus Mill Adventure

Kick off the day with a hearty breakfast at Smokey Joe’s, a local favourite. Next, visit the Cornwall Gold Centre, where you can pan for gold and explore the last working Tolgus Mill.

Enjoy a coastal walk at Portreath Beach, known for its dramatic cliffs and scenic views. For souvenirs and local crafts, visit Bridge Industrial Estate before heading back to your accommodation at Parbola Holiday Park.

Day 4: Truro’s markets and Trebah Gardens

On Wednesdays or Saturdays, explore the vibrant Truro Farmers Market, where you can sample local delicacies. Wander through the charming streets and visit the iconic Truro Cathedral.

For lunch, head to The Heron Inn in Malpas, offering delicious food with riverside views. Spend the afternoon strolling through Trebah Gardens, a subtropical paradise with scenic walking paths.

Day 5: Horse Riding Experience

Start your morning with a visit to Poldhu Cove, famous for its rich hot chocolate. Next, enjoy an active experience at Newton Equestrian and Leisure Centre with a scenic horse-riding session through the Cornish countryside.

Wrap up the day at the Chocolate Factory and Craft Centre in Helston, where you can sample handmade treats and pick up unique gifts, on your way back to your home from home.

Day 6: A beach walk to remember

Head up the road from our park to take in Hayle’s stunning coastline with a scenic walk through the Towans dunes to Gwithian, returning along the beach. Follow the South West Coast Path through rolling sand dunes, enjoying panoramic views over St Ives Bay. Along the way, spot wildlife and wildflowers before reaching Gwithian, where you can pause at a local café or take in the coastal beauty. The return route along the vast, sandy beach offers a refreshing contrast, with rock pools and crashing waves adding to the charm. This circular walk perfectly captures the natural beauty of Hayle’s coastline.

Day 7: St Ives – Art, Culture, and Coastal Views

Board the scenic Lelant Saltings to St Ives train, offering some of Cornwall’s most breathtaking coastal views. Explore the town’s boutique shops, golden beaches, and art galleries.

Stop by The Sloop Inn for a traditional Cornish pint and visit Moomaid of Zennor for some of the best ice cream in our area. Finally, immerse yourself in art at Tate St Ives, a must-visit gallery showcasing incredible coastal-inspired pieces.
