What’s on in Cornwall in September: Events Worth Travelling For

Cornwall is a truly magnificent region with relaxing beaches and harbours, rolling countryside and historical landmarks. Whether you already own a Lovat caravan or lodge in Cornwall or want to discover more about holiday home ownership, there is something for everyone to explore in this region.

2 to 4 September 2021 - Tune in the Dunes

The UK's most popular beach festival Tune in the Dunes is back for 2021 at Perranporth, with an exciting line-up featuring Jack Garratt, Tom Walker, Craig David and more. Enjoy a three day event of live music set in a stunning backdrop or Cornish dunes.

Until 3 September 2021 - Into the Deep Blue

Watch a mesmerising aerial dance show performed by renowned company Yskyanna at the National Maritime Museum in Cornwall. Into the Deep Blue tells the story of a mermaid as she travels through the ocean.

4 to 18 September 2021 - St Just Ordinalia 2021

Celebrate everything about Cornish heritage and culture at St Just Ordinalia this September. Two weeks of outdoor theatre will be performed at the outdoor amphitheatre at Plen an Gwari near St Just.

5 September 2021 - Tour of Britain Cycle Race

Cornwall is hosting the Tour of Britain for the first time this year. Stage 1 of the race will start in Penzance and sees riders travel over 180km to Bodmin. The route will travel through several locations including St Just, St Ives, Falmouth, Truro, Newquay, and St Austell.

There's no better way to spend an evening in Summer than at the Wavelength Drive-In Cinema. Enjoy stunning views over Watergate Bay as you watch a classic film before returning to your caravan or lodge for a cosy evening.

Watch pop-up performances at the Eden Project this summer with the Summer of Celebration events. Expect to see a wide range of theatrical performances, including theatre, parkour, carnival and storytelling.

Fashion brand Joules have teamed up with the Marine Conservation Society to help clean up Cornwall's beaches with the Beach Clean Roadshow. Spend the weekend out of your holiday home at the beach at Watergate Bay protecting our wildlife.

9 September 2021 - Mark Watson at Launceston Town Hall

Renowned comedian Mark Watson will be performing his 'How Can You Almost Win' tour at Launceston Town Hall. Expect an evening of laughs and joy at this fun event.

10 to 19 September 2021 - Heritage Open Days Festival

The Heritage Open Days Festival is taking place in Cornwall and across the country. Visit the Wheal Martyn Clay Works, Bodmin Keep, The Liskeard and District Museum, and other historical landmarks.

11 September 2021 - Eden Sessions: Ben Howard

Following his fourth studio album release, singer Ben Howard will be performing as part of the Eden Sessions at the Eden Project. The evening will be full of great music and starts a series of sessions taking place in 2021.

11 to 25 September 2021 - St Ives September Festival

Travel from your lodge and enjoy 15 days of live music and exciting events at St Ives September Festival. Take part in workshops or listen to music at several different venues located across St Ives.

12 September 2021 - Eden Sessions: McFly

One of the UK's most prominent pop groups will be headlining the Eden Sessions this September. McFly has had several chart hits and is sure to put on a show.

14 September 2021 - Eden Sessions: Royal Blood

Rock duo Royal Blood will be headlining the Eden Sessions following their latest album, 'Typhoons'. Liverpool based band The Mysterines are also set to perform on the night.

Until 15 September 2021 - Laura Knight Exhibition

Visit Penlee House Gallery and Museum in Penzance to see the work of one of Britain's favourite artists and enjoy a fabulous day out. The Laura Knight exhibition features more than 60 pieces, including Cornwall's stunning countryside and seaside landscapes.

16 September 2021- Eden Sessions: Snow Patrol

This September, another artist performing as part of the Eden Sessions is rock group Snow Patrol, with Lucy Blue as the support act. The band released their debut album over 20 years ago and have achieved several chart hits.

17 September 2021 - Eden Sessions: The Script

Irish group The Script are famous around the world and have released several hit singles and albums. They are headlining a Friday night concert at the Eden Project as part of Eden Sessions.

17 to 19 September 2021 - St Ives Food and Drink Festival

Take a break from your lodge and explore the wonders of St Ives Food and Drink Festival. This is one of the best events for people who love food and will take place across St Ives and is free to attend. There will be chefs performing cookery demonstrations over the weekend, including Andi Tuck, Ross Geach, and Steven Lamb.

17 to 19 September 2021 - Port Isaac Shanty Festival

Enjoy a weekend of fantastic live music and seaside shanties at the Port Isaac Shanty Festival. This year the festival will be taking place at Port Isaac Playing Field.

18 September 2021 - Eden Sessions: IDLES

Bristol-based rock band IDLES will close Eden Sessions for 2021 with support from Black Honey and Spectres. The band have just released their third album and have previously won the Ivor Novello award for best album.

18 to 19 September 2021 - Watergate Sprint

The Watergate Sprint is the perfect event for motorsports enthusiasts and will be taking place along the North Cornish coast. Watch the action from one of the dedicated spectator sites or partake yourself.

18 to 19 2021 - Cornwall Balloon Fiesta

The first-ever Cornwall Balloon Fiesta will be taking place this September at the Royal Cornwall Showground near Wadebridge. You'll be able to see a whole host of sights, such as hot air balloons, circus acts, and a night display show.

19 September 2021 - Eden Classic Sportive

The non-competitive Eden Classic Sportive cycling event is a great day out and ideal for cyclists who want to explore the Cornish countryside. If you bring your bicycles with you to your lodge, this is a great event to attend.

23 to 26 September 2021 - North Cornwall Book Festival

Avid readers will love a visit to the North Cornwall Book Festival. Several authors are set to attend, including Rachel Joyce, Phillip Marsden and Amanda Craig.

24 to 26 September 2021 - Newquay Beer Festival

Try some of Cornwall's best beers, ales, ciders, wines, lagers and more at the Newquay Beer Festival. There will be more than 100 drinks to taste as well as food and live entertainment.

24 to 26 September 2021 - The Armchair Adventure Festival

If you love adventure, then this festival is for you. The Armchair Adventure Festival will be taking place at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and features activities and talks from world-leading adventurers. The festival will also be virtual, meaning you can take part in it from the comfort of your own caravan.

From 25 September 2021 - Porthleven Arts Festival

Porthleven Arts Festival will run over 10 days, giving you the chance to explore a celebration of music, art, dance and drama. You can visit the floating screen at Porthleven Harbour or watch one of the many performances taking place.

25 to 26 September 2021 - Enys Antiques Fair

Come and stay in your lodge for the weekend and visit the Enys Antiques Fair near Penryn. Bargain with dealers to buy a piece of period furniture or take a look around an exhibition.

Visit the world-famous Tate St Ives and take in the wonders of South Korean artist Haegue Yang's 'Strange Attractions' exhibition. Yang's pieces are inspired by St Ives, modernism and ancient Cornish architecture.

Cornwall's Wildlife Trust are running a series of open garden events across Cornwall this September. Explore open gardens at the Cornish Cutting Garden (5 September), Trenarth Manor (12 September), and Pedn Billy (26 September).
