Discover the New Forest National Park.
The New Forest’s 566 square kilometres of sprawling heathland, ornamental forestry, rolling country hills, panoramic moors and unspoiled coastline have a long and distinguished history, perhaps most notably as the former hunting ground of William the Conqueror.
Following the river, the Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard walking route is one of many, many picturesque ways to take in this area’s beauty. The name ‘Beaulieu’ was given by 13th-century Cisterian monks, meaning ‘beautiful place’.
There’s no shortage of other destinations for village hoppers. Try the ‘Lyndhurst on foot’ circular walk, or head to Brockenhurst, Burley or Ashurst for character, rural charm and, as you’d expect, an unbeatable selection of independent gift shops, tea rooms and country pubs. You’ll even have the chance to spot New Forest native ponies along the way!
Don’t let the incredible countryside distract you from the New Forest’s remarkable collection of unspoiled beaches and stunning shores — we’ve actually written about a few of our favourite New Forest coastal hotspots.
